Schools for Specific Purposes or SSPs Schools for Special Purposes are schools for children with special needs. They are for students from Pre-school to Year 12 who require intensive levels of support. These schools provide a specialised educational setting in which learning support plans are collaboratively developed, implemented and monitored.
These schools are for children with special needs and have specialist facilities designed for children with Moderate Intellectual Disability (IO), Severe Intellectual Disability (IS) and significant Physical Disability (P) and/or significant health impairment that requires regular support from allied health personnel. IO/IS/P support classes may operate as a sub-section of a regular Primary or Secondary School
This facility is a special unit designed in isolation or within an existing school.
These facilities are designed for children with Behavioural Disorders (BD), Conduct Disorders (CD) and Emotional Disturbance (ED). BD/ CD/ ED support classes may operate as a sub-section of a regular Primary or Secondary School.
