2.6 Industrial Sheet Flooring

 

General
2.0 - 2.5mm thick slip resistant industrial sheet flooring, guaranteed to maintain characteristics for the full thickness and to not require scrubbing, to AS/NZS 4586 and HB197

2.7 Anti-Static Vinyl Sheet Flooring
 
GUIDE NOTE: Anti-static vinyl sheet flooring must only be used in specific locations where the Educational Facilities Standards and Guidelines nominate anti-static flooring. It must not be used in any other locations. 
2.8 Tactile Surface Indicators
 

General
Resilient tactile ground surface indicators for orientation of people with vision impairment in accordance with the NCC

Description

  • Installation: To AS1428.4 and in accordance with the manufacturer’s printed installation instructions.
  • Installation should not be undertaken when exposed to direct intense sunlight. Ensure adhesive is taken to the edge of the tile/sheet.
  • Wet Surfaces: R11 (minimum).
  • Slip resistant classification for pedestrian surface to AS/NZS 4586 & HB197

Selections

Hardwearing UV stable high shear strength PVC rubber blend tile suitable for exterior and interior use.

  • Dimensions (nominal): 300 x 300 x 2mm base thickness

OR

UV stable cork and rubber composition tile suitable for exterior and interior use.

  • Dimensions (nominal): 300 x 600 x 2.5mm base thickness.

GUIDE NOTE: Select a contrasting colour achieve the required luminance contract with adjacent surfaces.

 
2.10 Ordering and Delivery 

 

Requirement
Order and confirm delivery instructions with the resilient flooring preferred subcontractor or selected subcontractors not less than 12 weeks prior to the date required and give 2 weeks notice to the subcontractor of the required laying date.

Give a copy of the delivery docket to the Principal’s Authorised Person / Principal’s Representative on delivery of the material to site with the following details:

  • Full description of resilient flooring and underlay (if required) and all details of accessories.

3.3 Sheet and Tile Installation

 

Time of laying
The resilient flooring must be laid prior to the carpet.

Change of finish
Junction between resilient flooring and carpet: The carpet edge stripping is to cover the edge of the exposed resilient flooring. 

3.5 Sheeting


Welded joints
Requirement: If the floor finish cannot be heat welded, cold weld by applying the recommended adhesive to both edges. All joints are to be sealed to prevent moisture penetration.

3.8 Completion

 

Maintenance manual
In addition to the maintenance manual supply laminated instructions (see below). The instructions must clearly indicate the location of all resilient floor finishes and the required maintenance requirements showing daily, weekly, monthly and annual requirements. Include the names and addresses of the suppliers, manufacturers and range names and colour of each component

Performance Criteria

Selections should be based on the following performance criteria:

  • Offer value for money in a Whole of Life framework;
  • Offer high durability and robustness
  • Have low maintenance requirements 
  • Compliance with NCC Fire Hazard Properties
  • Be water resistant and capable of being welded and cored for hygiene as necessary
  • Provide appropriate functionality for the location and use of the area including:
  • Acoustic suitability to expected background and activity noise levels
  • Slip resistance.
  • Support sustainability by having recycling potential at the end of usable life, and/or include recycled content.
  • Must be in sheet form and fully heat welded on installation to AS 1884
  • Industrial sheet flooring should be resilient for standing and dropped tools
  • Vinyl flooring should have a clear upper surface treatment incorporated during manufacture and guaranteed for at least five years
  • For homogeneous products, the nominated colours and patterns shall permeate this thickness.
  • For heterogeneous products, the nominated colours and patterns shall permeate at least 0.7mm of this thickness.
